Wisdom Tooth Removal in Gurgaon
Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out, so the first step in wisdom tooth removal in Gurgaon should be a proper look at the tooth, not a booking for surgery. Plenty of these teeth come through straight and cause no trouble. Others stay trapped under the gum or grow in at an angle, and those can damage the tooth next door. At Artistree Dental and Cosmetic Clinic, the decision is made from an examination and an X-ray.

When removal makes sense
- Repeated swelling and infection of the gum over the tooth
- Decay in the wisdom tooth, or in the molar in front of it, that cannot be reached and cleaned
- A tooth pushing against its neighbour or causing damage to it
- A cyst around a buried tooth
A healthy wisdom tooth that is in position and easy to clean can often stay, with an eye on it at check-ups. If someone advises you to remove all four, it is fair to ask why, for each one.
Simple or surgical?
A wisdom tooth that has fully come through can often be lifted out much like any other tooth. An impacted tooth is different. The gum has to be opened, and sometimes the tooth is taken out in sections. A lower wisdom tooth can also lie close to the nerve that gives feeling to the lip and chin, so an X-ray is used to see that relationship before treatment.
Who should do it
Gurgaon has no shortage of dentists who extract teeth. For an impacted tooth, or a root near the nerve, look for an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. At Artistree, Dr Ankush Mahajan, who completed his postgraduate training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Government Dental College, Bangalore, takes on wisdom tooth surgery and surgical extractions. The clinic handles simple and impacted wisdom teeth alike. Dr Shveta Setia Thareja also sees extraction patients. Sahiba, writing on Google in April 2026 about two wisdom tooth extractions and a root canal with Dr Shveta, said: "I never walked dissatisfied from her clinic."
Recovery, day by day
- The first day. Bite on the gauze as told, and use a cold pack on your cheek. Rest, and do not rinse, spit hard, smoke, or drink through a straw. The clot that forms is what protects the bone.
- Days two and three. Swelling and stiffness usually peak. Eat soft, cool food, and start gentle warm salt water rinses when you are told to.
- Days four to seven. Most people feel steadily better and return to normal food little by little.
- Warning signs. Pain that gets worse after a few days, a bad taste, or fever should be checked. Worsening pain can mean a dry socket.

Frequently asked questions
Does wisdom tooth removal hurt?
The area is numbed, so you should feel pressure and not pain during the procedure. Soreness afterwards is normal and is managed with the medicines the doctor advises.
Should I remove a wisdom tooth that does not hurt?
Not always. Some painless teeth are harming the tooth beside them, and others are fine to leave. An X-ray helps decide.
How much time off should I plan for?
Many people plan on a day or two of rest after a simple removal and a little longer after surgery. The doctor will advise you based on your case.
Can all four be removed together?
Sometimes, but it depends on how difficult each tooth is and on your general health. The surgeon will discuss what is sensible.
